Williamston Police Department Ribbon Cutting
Oct 28th, 2021
On October 28, 2021 Williamston Police Dept. held the ribbon cutting ceremony at their newly renovated Police Station, located at 100 South Haughton Street in Williamston, NC. The newly renovated 10,000 square foot police station was an old IGA grocery store. The old building had to be completely gutted on the interior. Major renovation work to the roof was performed, including some new structural wood framing, new roof sheathing, new shingles at the front pitched roof and new TPO membrane on the flat roof.
New storefront windows and doors, overhead doors and exterior personnel doors were cut in and installed at the exterior of the building. The new interior walls were constructed using metal studs and drywall. The building consists of a large training room, conference room, interrogation/interview rooms, Clerk’s office, Chief and Captain’s offices, detective, narcotics and task force offices, a large evidence room, an armory, fitness room, break room and (2) Sally Ports. The existing brick veneer of the building was pressure washed and painted. New sidewalks were poured and the old asphalt parking lot was completely demoed, repaved and striped. New landscaping was also installed.
The project began on June 2, 2020 and was completed on May 26, 2021. The project Architect was Oakley-Collier. The project was funded by USDA Rural Development.
